I’m happy to announce the launch of our latest website design project - the site for Santa Fe law firm Simons & Slattery.

The firm had an old site that was out of date and difficult to maintain, so they approached Moore Consulting for a new start.

Together, we established the objectives for the new site, identifying the need for a clean professional design that was easy to update, and search-engine friendly.

As well as attorney biographies and outlines of the firm’s areas of expertise, Simons & Slattery wanted the option to add a Resources section over time, that included articles and reports.

The visual design was a challenge, because like many organizations the firm did not have a strong existing visual identity. Even the color palette was up for grabs, as their logo was a simple black on white.

imageThe other graphical issue was that the work of attorneys doesn’t lend itself to illustration beyond generic shots of business people sitting round a table.

The solution

I presented the firm with two quite different sample designs - one very colorful, and one more monochrome, to offer a real choice. The monochrome design was the preferred option, and we combined this with use of strong landscape photographs from the Santa Fe area.

The photographs were from my own portfolio - more information on my photography and related services at http:// http://www.clearingthevision.com), and avoided the more cliched Santa Fe options, while still placing the firm solidly in its location.

The site was built using the latest version of Wordpress as a content management system, allowing pages to be built and adjusted quickly, and also allowing for very easy updating by Simons & Slattery employees themselves.

Elege Simons Harwood, the attorney who worked most closely on the project said:

“It was a true pleasure working with Moore Consulting.  David is both creative and practical, a great combination.  David synthesized the varied
(and vague) imput he received regarding the design and the result was fantastic.

When we first met with David we were insistent that we did not want to do any of the work to keep the website updated, because we had had bad experiences in the past. After getting the site up, David did a tutorial on Wordpress and it is amazingly easy.  Since then I have been able to go in and make small changes on my own which is much easier than having to get David to do it.

Everyone is absolutely thrilled with the website!”
