Introduction to Accessibility

Next Thursday, May 12th, I’ll be addressing a meeting of NMIPA (New Mexico Internet Professional’s Association) on the subject of accessibility.
Together with Virginia DeBolt, author of ‘Integrated HTML and CSS: A Smarter, Faster Way to Learn’, I’ll outline the case for creating inclusive websites (and the benefits of doing so), and describes the basic steps you can take to improve the accessibility of your sites.
The event will:
- outline the perspective of users with disabilities
- describe accessibility legislation
- present a business case for improving website accessibility
- describe the features and merits of various accessibility techniques
Directions
The event is at Tiny's Restaurant, at the intersection of Cerrillos and St. Francis. From Albuquerque, take the St. Francis Exit. Turn right into Tiny's parking lot immediately before the Cerrillos Road stoplight. We will be in the far rear of the restaurant. Non-members are welcome.
